UNIVERSAL AUTOMATIC COMPACTION APPARATus

Introduction:

It is a motor driven mechanical compactor useful for soil compaction into 100mm or 150mm dia moulds. Two sets of rammers are provided, one of 2.6kg. And the other of 4.89 kg arranged for 310mm and 450mm fall respectively. For compaction soil into 150mm dia moulds, 100mm face dia rammers having weight of 4.89Kg is used. Where as for 100mm dia moulds, they are of 50mm dia. The rammer assembly is provided with a ratchet and pawl arrangement to lift it from the top of the soil layer. When the rammer reaches the required height the pawl release the rammer, which falls freely on soil surface. The release mechanism is connected by an arm moving up and down which is connected to a reduction gear coupled to the motor through another arm. An automatic blow counter fitted to the compactor is used to set the number of blows. The base plate of the specimen mould is to be fitted to the rotating base plate of the instrument which makes 1/5th revolution per operation. Operation on 230 volts, 50 cycles, single phase, A.C. supply, Moulds are to be ordered separately.

BISHOP PORE PRESSURE APPARATUS

Introduction:

Consists of panel for wall mounting on which are fitted wall mounting on which are fitted 1.0 to 10Kg/cm2 x0.1Kg/cm2 a pressure gauge, Bourdon tube 20cm dia.

General Description & Specification:

Manometer

Glass U-tube manometer for measuring low positive pore pressures negative pore pressures and checking zero error of pressure gauge. It is provided with a mercury trap (Mercury supplied at extra cost ) Null indicator made out of clear transport perspex with mercury trap and cursor to indicate the mercury level.

Burette

50 ml Burette for measuring the volume change in the soil specimen. Pressure pump fitted with four sleeve packed valve, Operated by means of a hand wheel on the end of the piston rod which is threaded thru the pump cap and gives a smooth, fine adjustment of pressure copper coil and water reservoir.

The unit is tested against leaks upto 10Kg/cm2

CONE PENETROMETER

Introduction:

It will consist of metallic cone with half angle of 15 -30 ±15 and 30.50mm coned length. It will be fixed at the end of a metallic rod with a disc at the top of the rod so as to have a total sliding weight of 148± 0.5 gms. The total rod shall pass through two guides. (to ensure vertical movement) fixed to a stand. Suitable provision will be made for clamping the vertical rod at any desired height above the surface of the paste in the trough. A brass trough 50 mm internal diameter and 50 mm depth will be provided as per IS specification resting on M.S.bars.

EXTRACTOR FRAME - UNIVERSAL

Introduction:

Comprises of a frame designed for screw jack operation, one each of the adaptor plates and plunger adaptors for 38mm, 75mm, diameter, 100mm diameter, 150mm diameter, specimens and a stand to obtain simultaneously three 38mm diameter samples from one 100mm diameter sample. The adaptor plate which slides a long the slotted supports can be clamped at any desired position by means of locking nuts. Beside this, the tube or mould can be held in position by raising the tube guides and held in position with locking screws. the lead screw movement can be stopped at any predetermined position by tightening the lead screw locking collar. FIELD DENSITY TEST APPARATUS - CORE CUTTER

Introduction:

Cylindrical Core Cutter: It shall be of seamless steel tube, 130 mm long and 100 mm internal diameter with a wall thickness of 3 mm, bevelled at one end,( as per section 2.1)

Steel Dolley: It shall be 25 mm high and 100 mm internal dia with a wall thickness of 7.5 mm with a lip to enable it to be fitted on top of the core cutter.

Steel Rammer: It shall have solid mild steel foot of 140 mm diameter and 75 mm height with a concentrically screwed 25 mm dia. Solid mild steel staff. The overall height of the rammer including the foot as well as the length of staff shall be approximately 900 mm.

The foot and staff together shall weight approx, 9.0 Kg.

Pallete Knife: It shall have a blade of stainless steel approximately 200 mm long & 30 mm wide (Stainless steel spatula ).

HIGH SPEED STIRRER


Introduction:

A mechanical stirring device in which a suitably mounted induction motor will have a vertical shaft having speed of 6000 to 8000 revolutions per minute when loaded. The shaft will be equipped with a replaceable stirring paddle of either of the types and made of metal. The surface will be of such length that the stirring paddle will operate not less than 20 mm and not more than 35 mm above the bottom of the dispersion cup. The dispersion cup will be supported on a rest and shall have a removable baffle. A special dispersion cup conforming to either of the designs shown in IS 2720 (Part IV) 1985 will be provided to hold the sample while it is dispersed. The stirrer will be free from vibration whilst operation and the base will be made of M.S. of at least size 20 cm X 25 cm with rubber cushions. The container and baffle will be of such material as not be affected by the reagents like sodium Carbonate, Sodium silicate , Sodium Hexametaphosphate etc. The stirrings device will be suitable for operation on 230-250 Volts A C with controller switch for different revolution. It will be provided with 3 core wiring of with off-on switch on side. The dimensions of stirring paddles for stirring apparatus and dispersion cup will be as per IS 2720(Part IV)1985.

INFRARED MOISTURE BALANCE

Introduction:

With solid state electronic Regulator. Very easy to operate with and accuracy of 0.2% by direct reading,0.1% by estimation, complete with "L" Bend thermometer with pans cap.5 or 10 or 25 grams.

General Description & Specification:

This is very reliable and sturdy instrument for an accurate determination of the moisture content of materials which do not undergo chemical change when exposed to infra red radiations. The instrument is specially useful for the substances which quickly reabsorbs moisture after drying. Observations can be taken quickly and the results obtained are accurate. The instrument can be used for reliable determination of moisture content of agricultural soil, foods, chemicals, plastics, Pharmaceuticals, construction soils and other similar materials. The instrument consist of a 250 watt infrared lamp, a sensitive torsion balance and a temp. Control, all housed in a compact cabinet made of Aluminium, having robust design. The Infra Red radiation from the lamp is used for heating the sample. The temp. is controlled by the solid state control. The sensitive torsion balance used magnetic damping to damp the vibrations of the pan. LABORATORY VANE SHEAR

Introduction:

Consists of a torque head adjustable in height by means of a lead screw rotated by a drive wheel to enable the vane to be lowered into the specimen. Rotation of the vane is by means of a hand wheel which operates a worm gear arrangement turning the upper end of a calibrated torsion spring. Vane dia, rod dia, vane size & vane height are as per IS specification.

General Description & Specification:

The Vane shaft is attached through the hollow upper shaft to resettable pointer, which indicates the angle of torgue on a dial graduated in degrees. The dial reading multiplied by spring factory gives the torque. A container for soil tube of 38mm I.D. & 150 mm long can also be used as container. Complete with set of springs, one each of approx 0.2kg/cm,4kg/cm,6 kg/cm,8 kg/cm in a nice teak wooden carrying case.

LATERAL PRESSURE ASSEMBLY

Introduction:

The apparatus consists of a pressure chamber which has a flanged top cap fitted with a 10Kg/Cm2. Pressure gauge and a valve for pumping in air. Water inlet and drain cock are fitted to the chamber. MARSH CONE FUNNEL

Introduction:

This cone is used to find out viscosity of bentinite slurry and like material. The marsh cone is 6 inch in diameter at the top and 11 inch(280mm) long, and tapers to join a tube 2 inch long and 3/16 inch side dia. The capacity of the funnel is 1500 cc. Time in seconds required to flow out 1000 cc of slurry from cone is measured as funnel viscosity of the material.

Light Rammer

2.6 Kg x 310 mm fall. A metal chrome plated rammer having 50 mm dia. Circular and weighing 2.6 kg. The rammer will be equipped with a suitable arrangement for controlling the drop to the specified height of 310 mm. It will conform to the requirement given in the IS 2720 (Part VII), IS 9198.With our own test certificate.

It will be made of Mild steel having capacity of 2250 c.c with an internal diameter of 150 + 0.1 mm and an internal effective height of 127.3 cm + 0.1 mm. The rammer will be equipped with a suitable arrangement for controlling the drop to the specified height of 450 mm. It will conform to the requirement given in the IS 2720 (Part VII), IS 9198.With our own test certificate.

PROCTOR NEEDLE - SPRING TYPE

Introduction:

The Instrument consist of needle attached to a spring loaded plunger. the stem of which is calibrated to read 0 to 40 kgs in 1 kg division. Long stem is graduated at every 12.5mm to read depth of penetration and for use with needles of larger areas. The small penetration steam is also graduated in 12.5mm division and is used with needles of smaller areas. Needle points one each of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0,1.5,2.0, 3.5, and 6.0 sq.cm. and one tommy pin is supplied. Complete as above in a wooden carrying case.

PROVING RING

Introduction:

These proving rings are made out of special steel, carefully forged to give maximum strength & machined to give the highest sensitivities commensurate with high stability and to ensure long life and accuracy. All proving rings are integral type viz. the loading (outside) bosses are forged integral with the ring body. This ensures that there is no possibility of abutment shift and consequent loss of accuracy in reading that always exists in rings with bolted abutments. The dial gauge and anvil are mounted on U-brackets clamped to the ring body by Allen set screws. The dial gauge is fitted with a special back cover and threaded bush which does not permit any shift from the original diametric alignment, coaxial with the loading boss centers, that is set at the factory before calibration. For all compression proving rings and tension compression proving rings up to and including 5 kN capacity (a little over 500 kgf) the loading bosses have female threading, 1/2" B.S.F. (16 t.p.i.) The boss faces are ground and polished and are lane parallel to within 0.02mm.total D.T.I. run-out. Caps are provided for use when loading in compression. Repeatability is as stipulated in IS : 4169-1967. The rings are supplied complete with dial gauge and our own calibration chart, packed in polished wooden boxes.

Introduction:

The unit consists of a pressure vessel with clamp for sealing cap, rubber sealing gasket, pressure gauge calibrated in percentage moisture content 0-25% X 1% on the wet weight basis, a counter poised balance for weighing sample, a scoop for measuring carbide reagent, a bottle of reagent, one cleaning brush and a set of 4 steel balls(3 OF 12.5MM AND 1 OF 25MM DIA) for thorough mixing. Introduction:

  • This is a bench type model which is portable, sturdy and convenient for bench mounting. The side to side movement to the carrier which can take upto 7 sieves of 20cm diameter is through a chain of gears operated by a hand wheel.
