Pendulum impact tester serve for determining the impact strength of notched and unnotched metal bars of different sections and different lengths according to the charpy (Beam) method. The machine is meant for making charpy, Izod and tension impact tests. The Pendulum Impact Tester is designed conducting CHARPY IZOD and IMPACT TENSION Test. The test methods conform to IS : 1757-1973 and IS :1499-1077 and IS : 1598-1977. The impact energy absorbed by the specimen during rupture is measured as the difference between the height of drop before rupture and the height of rise after rupture of the test specimen and is read on the dial scale.

Manually Operated

Motorized Unit

Manually operated :

0-500 Kg. Complete with one briquette mould and set of weights to weigh 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg. without lead shot.

Motorised Operated:

0-900 Kg. The instrument employs of friction free, accurate, double, lever system, the load being applied by means sliding weight on the top lever The capacity of the unit is 900 kgs. After fixing the briquette in the jaws, the machine is swithched on. The sliding weights slides over the calibrated lever thus applying tension to the specimen. A micron-Switch fitted instantly stops the machine on failure of the briquette and on failure the tensile load is accurately read to 0.5 Kg by means of a marker provided on the sliding weight. The machine can be made operationable for subsequent test only after bringing the sliding the weight to its zero position. Suitable for operation on 230 volts, 50 cycles, single phase, A.C. supply. Complete with one brass briquette mould and one base plate.

A system of loading which causes section of a bar or shaft to rotate about its central longitudinal axis relatively to another such section and which thus produces twist or torsion in the bar, constitutes a torsional load. The load may be composed of forces acting in any direction but the twisting or torsional affect is provided by the couples formed by these forces in planes normal to the central axis. The torsional shearing stresses in circular cross section vary from zero at the axis of the section to a maximum value at the extreme fibres. If no bending is present pure shear exists. Torsion Testing machine Consists of two independent chucks. The twist is communicated through the test piece to the other jaw on which a weighted pendulum is attached. The resistance to deflection of pendulum causes a torque to be applied to the test piece and the angles of deflection of pendulum is the measure of torque. The machine is built for maximum twisting moment at about 50 kgm. It is equipped with jaws for accomo- dating test pieces of 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm size either square or circular with square shoulder.
